I have been a Title I Reading Specialist in Forest Ridge School District 15 years. The federally funded Title I program allows for reading interventions for the lowest 10th percentile of students in the building in each of the five grade levels. I find that helping students learn to read is a rewarding experience for both the students and for me!
Students in the program are pulled out of their regular classrooms five days a week, for about 40 minutes. During this time, we are focused on any or all of the following reading skills: decoding, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary and phonics. The focus is determined by the students' needs. Once students demonstrate improvement in reading, they are released from the program. The emphasis of this program is to meet students where they are performing and elevate their reading experience.
If you need to reach me by phone, please call the school and ask for extension 4311. My school email is [email protected]. I do check my email and phone messages daily, and look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Ms. Griffiths
